Athens

A visit to Athens remains for many tourists a quick introduction to some highlights, after which  soon is decided to leave the always busy city for an excursion to Delphi, the Peloponnese, or by boat (plane) to one of the islands . Yet there are so many well-known and lesser-known antiquities in Athens, that the more interested tourist can spend many days here just visiting the antiquities and museums. So many more days are actually needed to appreciate the city and the Athenians as well. But also for the highlights  a first exploratory walk is necessary. This walk can very well keep the visitor the day of arrival in Athens, although a certain fitness is desired. Given the large amount of monuments, a description of Athens is spread over several pages.
