Museum Chora

A small, but richly equipped museum with, among others, the finds from Ano Engliano is located a few kilometers away in the village of Chora. Entrance tickets to the museum are sold together with tickets for the archeological site. There are beautiful Mycenaean swords and golden dishes from the various dome tombs in the area, but also linear B tablets, dishes from the “store room” and oil barrels from the palace in Pylos. The pictures above and below show resp. The shed construction to protect the remains of the palace from the (inevitable?) decay, the restored dome tomb, the terracotta bath, the hearth and among some finds from the museum in Chora, including black and white reconstructions of some of the frescoes, golden crockery, a beautifully painted amphora and a huge storage vessel.
